Current Status
NTS announced
the OGDCL One Year Internship Test result on April 6, 2023. The test was
conducted on the 25th & 26th of March. Now the recruitment department is
preparing the list of the selected candidates. It probably takes three or four weeks for the list to upload after the result announcement from NTS. Hopefully, it will be out in the upcoming few days.
Where to check the list of selected candidates?
Officially the
list will be uploaded on the OGDCL website. Stays tuned there and follow the
three steps (given in the below Fig. 01) for updates.

Criteria for selecting candidates
The selection is solely based upon merit i.e. only your NTS test marks. Neither your university CGPA/percentage nor previous grades will count. A minimum CGPA of 2.5 is used just as a threshold to check your eligibility to enroll as an internee.
Next to list uploading: Receiving internship letter
through TCS
Once the list will upload on the OGDCL website, you come to know about your initial shortlisting and will receive an internship letter from OGDCL through TCS at your postal address within 10 days or time can exceed sometimes.
Internship Letter
This
internship letter states the date, time, and venue of your interview before the
final selection (Fig. 02). Read the letter carefully and bring all the mentioned
documents with you at the time of the interview.
Interview
This is not a
typical interview but just a pre-joining formality. So do not worry at all.
They will just check whether you are fulfilling the basic criteria or not.
Further, you have to provide some details through form filling.
Form filling: part of pre-joining formalities
You have to confirm your particulars and provide your bank account details, and preference of attachment i.e. wellsite, head office, etc (Fig. 03).

Next to interview: Receiving enrollment letter through
TCS
This letter states all the terms and conditions i.e. internship duration, stipend, etc as well as the person and department you have to report (Fig. 04). That will count as your first day of the internship.

attachment. |
Possible places of attachment
1. Head Office, Islamabad
2. Regional Offices (mostly Karachi & Hyderabad)
3. Well Sites/Fields (mostly KPK, Sindh and Punjab)
4. Oil and Gas Training Institute (OGTI), Islamabad
5. Geological and Reservoir (G&R) Laboratories, Islamabad
Reporting Day: the beginning of your OGDCL journey
You will photo shot for the issuance of an internship identity card (Fig. 05). It will remain valid for one year and can be used at the mess to have lunch at a subsidized price.

Other Information Insights
- Candidates from AJK, GB, FATA and Punjab are mostly attached to the OGDCL head office (Islamabad) and well sites in the North/vicinity of these regions.
- Candidates from Sindh and Balochistan are mostly attached to the OGDCL regional office (Karachi) and well sites in the South.
- Though we give our preference, but the place of attachment is random and decided by the management.
- Female candidates are attached anywhere i.e. head office, Geological and Reservoir (G&R Labs), etc except well sites/rigs.
- If you want to get well site exposure but attached in head office/indoor then do not worry. You can submit the application after a couple of months, and that will be considered.
- There is no firm rule for internees to spend 06 months at the well site/rig and 06 months in the head office.
- Each internee is attached to a different supervisor. And there are some mutual activities/courses as well.
- Internees will receive their initial two months stipend collectively (Rs. 80, 000/-) after completing two months.
- After two months, the monthly stipend of Rs. 40,000/- will transfer to bank accounts at the end of every month (mostly between the 5th & 10th of the new month).
Suggestions
- The entire selection phase is a slow and extensive process so hold your nerves, wait patiently, and make your time productive.
- Sometimes candidates miss their TCS letters due to unavailability at the postal address or some other issue so remain alert.
- Open up your personal bank account (preferably ABL/HBL) if not have one yet. Otherwise, you can open later after enrolment and send the bank details via email but it is always better to complete everything on time.
